In this 3-day course we use Mindfulness as a technique for improving student focus, emotional regulation and stress reduction. On day 1 we start from an introduction to Mindfulness and focus on Mindfulness practices for teachers. During day 2 of the training we will focus on the well-being of our students and look at how we can implement Mindfulness into our curriculum. Day 3 focuses on Mindfulness in the digital age. During these 3 days you will work on a small project in which you as a teacher will design your mindfulness activities for your lessons and explain how/why and when you will use them. No experience in Mindfulness is required for this course as we start from the basics.

  • Defining Mindfulness and Its Relevance in Educational Contexts.
  • Understanding the benefits of mindfulness for students and teachers.
  • Discussing research that supports mindfulness in education.
  • Teaching teachers mindfulness techniques tailored to the classroom environment (e.g. Labyrinth)
  • Discovering mindfulness practices that improve teacher-student relationships and classroom management.
  • Encourage teachers to begin their personal mindfulness practice and consider its potential impact on teaching.
  • Exploring the role of mindfulness in promoting trainees' mental health and well-being.
  • Discussing strategies for integrating mindfulness into students' daily routines.
  • Sharing case studies that emphasize improved student focus, emotional regulation, and stress reduction through mindfulness.
  • Discovering how mindfulness can be integrated into curriculum design and implementation.
  • Providing practical examples for integrating mindfulness into various subjects.
  • Involving participants in collaborative lesson planning, integrating mindfulness exercises.
  • Using technology to support and enhance mindfulness activities
  • Presenting apps/tools aimed at mindfulness in education

  • are you prepared to transfer the international knowledge you have learned to other contexts;
  • you are prepared to translate what you have learned into effective change in your own classroom practice and to share this within your department and beyond;
  • are you willing to commit to the Erasmus day in which you want to share what you have learned with colleagues from other participating school institutions;
  • are you willing to commit to the Erasmus podcast of Catholic Education Flanders to share what you have learned with the listeners of the podcast.
